Hey everyone! I’m on a party bus headed to Detroit for the Monster Jam show. Anyway, if you haven’t been on in a while, we’ve accumulated a couple of new worlds. Our latest greatest attraction is the underwater city of Rapture from Bioshock.
Wow, it’s been a while since my last post. I rebuilt my server using a Core i-7 extreme with 24GB DDR3 ram. We’re rockin on hardware! MC is running on a 120GB SSD and is being backed up manually to a GIT repository on my git/db server.
The MySQL server has been moved locally, MC has been granted 10GB of ram, and we have a new world, LAWLESS.
Tons of updates/upgrades to various plugins, electricraft is up and running, and we are now using TOWNY for the main world.
Spout Materials has been upgraded, and everyone is able to craft the new items. I’ll have to put together some material on crafting the new items.

MC is back up and running. I’m running it off my laptop and it’s functioning better than ever! That top of the line hardware really rocks!
In other news, I have new hardware on the way. Best i-7 with 24gb of ram and a 120gb SSD dedicated to mc!
Now the main hard drive is throwing SMART errors. Called them up, got some asshat in tech support that tried to argue that a SMART error is caused by the motherboard, not the hard drive. He put me on hold for 10 minutes, then hung up! I called back a half hour ago, was told that there was only 2 calls in front of me, and have been on hold ever since! Total time for all of this bullshit is a full fucking hour!
Do I get to send them a bill for my time?
The minecraft server is completely shot. The PSU blew and took out the motherboard. I’m going to attempt a mobo replacement tomorrow with a spare I have. I’m praying that it didn’t scramble my hard drives…
In the future, I will try offloading my disks to USB controllers, keeping everything independent. I had 7 disks locally attached, and 4 in an external RAID array. If I have time tonight, I will try accessing the disks in hopes all is not lost.
I might end up getting several of these inline usb surge protectors. Hopefully those will work in the event another motherboard fries and sends juice everywhere.
GC Server 3.0 will be strictly Ubuntu. Hopefully I can find a media server as slick as WMP, as the server housed all of my movies and music.
Anyway, wish me luck in recovering what I can and getting back up and running. I’ll probably be listing my old gaming rig case on Craig’s list soon, as I’m going to be gutting it for parts. It’s a Thermaltake Armor+, so if you want it, shoot me a message before it’s gone!
