Hey everyone, good news about AoD! I’ve returned to the dev scene and am re-writing the game from the ground up. I have very huge expectations for this, but I’m estimating a playable version at around 200 hours. Yeah, I just built a massive site for managing college students in the medical field in around 90hrs, but this game is going to be 10 times as much work, in hopefully just over double the time.
The biggest change I am making is how the world cycles. Every action will go into a queue and will be processed as such, one record at a time. I’ll have various crons running every minute to keep up. It may get insane server side, but the new GUI should impress.
This time around, I’m skipping the chat system, and the planned forum system. I may introduce forums, but in the mean time, no dice. I’m also striking the alliances system, as you will be able to grow much larger than previously designed. The new mapping system should allow for a more realistic touch as well, and the new movement system should function equally well.
